AFTER 17 years of waiting, the Catholic Church recognized Francisco and Jacinta Marto as saints today, in line with the celebration of the centennial year of the apparitions of the Our Lady of Most Holy Rosary to the three children of Fatima, Portugal.
Francisco and Jacinta Marto were beatified by Pope John Paul II on May 13, 2000. Pope Francis announced the canonization of the Marto sublings last March 23 after the pope met with Cardinal Angelo Amato, the Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of the Saints, and approved the promulgation a decree regarding the miracle attributed to the intercession of the two children of Fatima.
It is the second and final miracle needed for their canonization. The miracle approved on March 23 was opened on October 13, 2004. It involved the healing of Felipe Moura Marques, an infant who was born with type 1 diabetes which was considered incurable. His mother and his grandmother took the child to the Marian Shrine in Fatima and placed him near the tombs of the two blessed.
While watching Pope John Paul II beatify the two shepherd children on television on May 13, 2000, Felipe’s mother prayed to Francisco and Jacinta for the health of her son. Since that time, Felipe has not needed to take insulin and has been completely cured of diabetes.
Francisco and Jacinta Marto are now one of the youngest saints in the history of the Catholic Church.

Meanwhile, Jacinta Marto was two years younger than Francisco. She was pretty and very lively She also loves dancing. She was also very friendly. She even gives name to her sheep.
EWTN Global Catholic Network also narrated that "after the first apparition, Lucia conveyed the Lady’s message to him, that he would go to heaven if he prayed many Rosaries. In the second apparition, Lucia asked to be taken to heaven, and the Lady replied that Francisco and Jacinta would be taken soon, but Lucia would have to wait for a time. She died February 13, 2005 at the age of 97."
Francisco died on 4 April 1919 while Jacinta died on 20 February 1920. Both of the contracted of Influenza.
