After our long wait and preparation of our savior, from the various messages revealed by God through all the prophets in Salvation history, the Emmanuel has come to man. Indeed, God’s Word has been made flesh – through the birth of Jesus Christ.
Christmas reminds us how God’s words of love and mercy was able to withstand all the trials and doubts that were thrown along the way. His Word is backed up by something greater than anyone or anything – His only begotten Son. This was God’s greatest gift and sacrifice for men, He has given us His Son so that Christ may save us from our sins; at the same time, that Christ is given to us to restore the peace that once was among us and renew man’s hope for eternity in God’s will.
As man constantly yearns for the physical evidence of God’s Word, we must remember that – like Christmas – it is also constantly reflected upon His creations. This season enables us to see that amidst all the sufferings and trials – may it be small or big – in our journey, Christ’s birth gives us the opportunity to continue believing in a better tomorrow. Man’s ability to consider his neighbors, to go beyond one’s own self, and to believe in the goodness of humanity, is where people would be able to see God. It is through us that others would experience God’s love and mercy.
Christmas, for some may be the starting point of goodness; while for others, it may be a reminder of their mission of spreading love. We must all remember that being generous and merciful is not a one-day activity, it is something done free-willingly to ourselves and to others for His greater glory.
