MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO - Lowly but chosen - this is the motto of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, since the days of his episcopacy. We usually associate these words to the Blessed Mother, who in her humility was chosen to be the Mother of God. Pope Francis reflects onby God to serve as bishop - shepherd to his flock and now successor to the Petrine Office. This Sunday's Gospel speaks of God revealing the truths of the faith to his "little ones". Who are these little ones?
Who have understood the truths of Christ and have followed taken up their cross and followed him? It is not the rich and powerful of their time. It is not the intellectuals and leaders who have done this - but the poor and humble of heart. And today, this is us, His People, the Church here on Earth! But who are we to take witness to such profundity? We are sinful and unworthy! However it is God's grace that sustains us! His mercy allows our feeble eyes to take witness to this faith.
The challenge to this revealed truths is this: to take our cross and follow him. Let us take witness to Christ for it is in him that we know the Father!
