"Quid est veritas? What is truth?"
Pontius Pilate asked this question when Jesus said: “You say I am a king. For this I was born and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth.”
…to testify to the truth.
I wish to center our reflection today on this TRUTH. What is this truth that Jesus testifies? Throughout Jesus’ life, all of his actions were centered on LOVE. This is the truth which He testifies.
Jesus said, THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS AT HAND. This kingdom which Jesus preached is not a kingdom of power, of greed, of injustice, of inequality, and of oppression. It is a kingdom of LOVE. It is a kingdom of God’s love.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” John 3:16
Jesus is God’s love made manifest in us. God himself came to be with us. He came to us in order to be the testament of God’s great love for us. And the ultimate expression of His love for us is His death on the cross; of which we commemorate today.
As we go to Church today and celebrate the Passion of the Lord, let us look at the cross in veneration. Let us look at His cross. Let us look at Jesus who loves us so much hanging there nailed on the cross.
As we look at the cross of Christ, may we also remember the crosses which we carry. Let us help each other carry these crosses. Let us be witnesses of the truth which Jesus testifies: GOD LOVES US.
Let us share with each other the truth of God’s love. Let us help each other build the Kingdom of God’s love. Let us strive to become better persons.
Let us love. Let us love. Let us love.
“Let us prefer nothing whatever to the love of Christ, and may he bring us all together to everlasting life.” (RB 72:11-12)
That in all things, God may be glorified.
